Xiaoxu Rong is a second-year Ph.D. student in Biomedical Data Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research focuses on subspace clustering, nonnegative matrix factorization, and the development of machine learning algorithms for biomedical applications.
During her first-year rotations, Xiaoxu worked on applying deep learning to cardiotocography signals and multimodal chest X-ray data for enhancing clinical diagnosis precision. On the theoretical side, she is developing a generalized nonnegative matrix factorization framework designed for data that lie in a union of subspaces.
Originally from Chengdu, China—the hometown of giant pandas—Xiaoxu enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, baking, and spending time with her two cats, Nemo and Boba.
